Straight answers on home batteries
Batteries come with a lot of jargon. Here's what matters before you buy.
Nominal vs usable capacity
Nominal kWh is the total capacity of the battery. Usable kWh is the energy you can actually draw from it. Your quote will show both, taken from the manufacturer's datasheet.
Backup vs bypass
A battery with backup keeps the circuits we agree on running during a blackout. That isn't always the whole house. Big appliances like ovens, air conditioners and EV chargers are often left off. A "bypass" or "pass-through" rating is the current the system lets through from the grid. It isn't what the battery can supply in a blackout. We'll spell out exactly what stays on.
The right size, not the biggest
We size the battery from your actual usage, your solar and what you need backed up, so you don't pay for capacity you won't use.
